Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a mobile diagnostic?

A mobile diagnostic is when we come to your location and test or inspect your vehicle to identify the cause of the problem, such as warning lights, no-start conditions, rough running, or A/C issues. This prevents unnecessary guessing or replacing parts that aren't actually faulty.
  • Is the $50 deposit refundable?

The deposit is applied to your total service cost. For same-day or last-minute cancellations, it's non-refundable, as this helps cover reserved time and travel expenses.
  • What issues can you diagnose on-site?

Most common issues like check engine light, no-start, battery or charging problems, starter and alternator concerns, sensor faults, misfires, overheating, and A/C performance problems can be diagnosed where the car is parked.
  • Can you repair my vehicle the same day?

Often yes, if the repair is safe to perform on-site and parts are available. If it requires special equipment or a shop environment, we'll explain why and recommend next steps. Repair dates may vary if parts need to be ordered.
  • Will you quote the repair before doing work?

Yes. After the diagnostic, we'll explain what we found and provide a repair quote for your approval before proceeding with any work.
  • Are there any repairs you can't do mobile?

Some jobs require a shop, such as repairs needing lifts, heavy press work, or extensive disassembly. If a repair isn't practical on-site, we'll tell you upfront and help you plan the best next step.
  • What if I replaced a part already?

That's common. At RDU Auto Repair, we'll diagnose from scratch without assumptions, confirm what's working, and zero in on the root cause so you don't keep spending on "maybe" repairs.
  • Can you use parts I already bought?

Yes, however customer-supplied parts may affect warranty or guarantee coverage. Ask before the appointment so we can clarify what's covered.
  • Can you diagnose overheating or coolant loss?

Yes. We can check for leaks, fan operation, hose condition, and signs of pressure loss. Some pressure testing may depend on the specific vehicle and conditions at the site.
  • Do I need to be present during the appointment?

It's helpful, especially at the start, but we can often work with contactless appointments if we have keys, access, and clear instructions ahead of time.
